ABOUT THE ARTIST

ARTIST STATEMENT

At a young age, Katherine became intrigued with abstract and abstract expressionism art and artists like VanGogh, Matisse, and Pollock inspired her own creative voice. As a teenager, Katherine found comfort in expressing her emotions into her art. Color and movement are powerful components in her paintings. “Untitled” a painting Katherine created as a teenager and was the inspiration to purse art in college and as a career.

“Untitled” was painted during one of the most difficult years of her life. Katherine had a difficult time expressing how she felt and found painting was a major stress reliever. Quickly, Katherine realized painting was more than just a stress release, it was a platform for Katherine to share her voice. After receiving comments on the painting, it gave Katherine the confidence that pain and struggle can turn into something meaningful and beautiful.

Katherine’s paintings are unique because of the stories behind the paint, colors, and words we choices to include in each painting. Abstract Expressionism speaks to Katherine in a vibrant way. Every color, brushstroke, and words tells a story and reflects emotion. Katherine loves conveying emotions through color, shapes, and movement. Another aspect Katherine loves regarding abstract art is how everyone can interpret the colors and words differently to reflect their own emotions.
